Basic Pistol.

1. Coverage.
• Pistol knowledge and firearm safety. Selection of pistols and ammunition. Fundamentals of shooting, cleaning and storage of pistols. There is a written exam and a practical. 
• This course is given in several formats over one or more days. It involves both classroom and firing range.  (Bring your firearm to the classroom and range, but absolutely NO LIVE AMMUNITION in the classroom.)  If time, ammunition and schedules permit, we will allow participants additional time to practice on the range after the class.
2. Who can take Basic Pistol Safety?
• Anyone age 13 and over can take this course providing you are legally permitted to possess, handle and discharge a pistol. Between the ages of 13 through 20, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
3. Cost varies. Generally around $100, depending on location and local expenses.
4. Requirements.
• You may bring a pistol: semi-auto or revolver. If you do not yet own a firearm, we can loan you one--please let us know if you will need to borrow a pistol. You will also need at least 50 rounds of ammunition for the range exercises. You also need to bring eye and ear protection. Additionally you may need insect repellent, sunscreen, and seating arrangements if you cannot stand for several hours. If you have any physical or mental disabilities, be sure to let us know so we can make arrangements to accommodate them.
• We require that you sign a Release, Waiver, Indemnification, Hold Harmless and Assumption of Risk Agreement.  A sample of the agreement is here.

These courses are offered when enough people express an interest in signing up.  If you are interested we will put your name on our mailing list. (We reserve the right to limit attendance, and to cancel classes with low enrollment or facilities conflicts.) Because of possible exposure to lead and other contaminants, we do not recommend these courses for anyone who is nursing, pregnant, or who might become pregnant.
